For the 5th consecutive season, the Cherokees knocked off rival Carlmont in the season finale, this time by a final score of 50-13. SR QB Nick DeMarco threw for 236 yards and 4 TD’s and SR RB Ponove Veimau gashed the Scots for 178 yards on the ground as the Cherokees ran their record to (5-5) (3-2 PAL Ocean). JR WR Duncan Stewart hauled in 6 catches for 133 yards and 2 scores, eclipsing the 1,000 yard mark for the season.

The Cherokees did their part in keeping their slim playoff hopes alive, but a loss by Rancho Cotate to North Bay power Cardinal Newman cost Sequoia a crucial point in the Central Coast Section’s convoluted playoff scoring system, leaving them just .33 points behind Robert Louis Stevenson HS for the final at-large playoff berth.
