Game Summary
Sequoia got a strong outing from JR LHP Ben Smith, who went 5 IP, allowing just a single hit and no runs and JR C Kasi Pohahau clubbed his 5th homerun in the team’s first ten games to lead the Cherokees to a 6-2 and a series sweep over Hillsdale Friday afternoon. After Pohahau’s HR opened scoring in the second inning, the Cherokees followed with a two-out, 3-run rally in the 3rd and tacked on two more in the 4th for a comfortable 6-0 lead. SR RHP Matt Smith took over on the mound in the 6th and pitched the final two frames. The Knights finally got on the board with two outs in the 7th on a 2-run single from Arjun Mahanty. The win is the 8th consecutive for Sequoia (9-1) (3-0 PAL Bay) but the Cherokees face a tall task in 3-time defending league champ Carlmont next week.
