In what is likely to be a two-team race at the top of the PAL Ocean Division, Lady Cherokees Head Coach Melissa Schmidt knows that not-dropping points is crucial throughout the condensed league season. “It adds a lot of pressure when you know you have to win to keep pace,” commented Schmidt, now in her 11th season as head Coach at Sequoia. “I am happy that so far, these girls have showed up every time out.”

SR Gennie Cheatham scored twice, and Mady Fitzgerald and Maya Mangeni each added goals as well, as Sequoia built a 4-0 lead at South San Francisco on Tuesday before conceding twice late in the game. The win pushes the Lady Cherokees to (7-1-3) (2-0 PAL) on the year with Half Moon Bay scheduled Thursday before the heavyweight showdown against San Mateo next week.
