Game Summary
The roughest stretch of the season continued for Sequoia as they mustered only two hits and surrendered 5 unearned runs in a 7-0 loss at Sacred Heart Prep on Wednesday. SHP opened the scoring in the bottom of the 1st on an RBI 2B from 3B Schaffer Kraemer, and carried the 1-0 lead into the bottom of the 7th. Sequoia JR LHP Ben Smith retired the first two batters of the frame on two pitches, but they were the final two outs he would record. 4 consecutive walks, two errors and a pair of bloop singles led to six SHP runs in the inning, opening up a 7-0 margin that would ultimately provide the final score. Sequoia was handcuffed all afternoon by Gators LHP Cole Spina who allowed just 4 base-runners and struck out 4 on the afternoon. The only Sequoia hits came courtesy of JR CF Kyle Pruhsmeier’s base hit to right-center in the 4th and SR 1B Chris Cook’s double down the line in right in the top of the 7th. With the loss, Sequoia falls to (13-7) (4-4 PAL Bay) and will look to salvage a series split against Prep at home Friday afternoon.
