The Sequoia Women’s soccer team opened the season with a convincing 4-1 win over Bay Division leaguemate Carlmont on Monday afternoon. This is the second consecutive win for the Lady Cherokees over the Scots and another step in a run of recent success for the squad, that made the CCS Division 1 Quarter-finals a year ago before losing 2-1 to eventual champion Santa Clara.
“After 1 game, the best you can be is 1-0,” quipped head coach Melissa Schmidt following season opener. “We are glad to be 1-0. But I’m also just super-proud of the way the girls played. If they keep that up, they will have a lot of success this year.”
The girls season continues this week with games against Sacred Heart Prep (Nov 29) and Notre Dame Belmont (Nov 30).
