Wednesday night the Sequoia track and field team hosted Menlo-Atherton and our varsity girls and varsity boys won the team competition and remain undefeated in league dual meets. All of our track and field athletes, including our hurdlers, jumpers, throwers, pole vaulters, sprinters and distance runners competed well and contributed to the victory but several athletes deserve special recognition. Eva Gillet won both the 800 and 1600 in all time personal records and Eva remains undefeated in dual meet competition. Ame Tupoufutuna won both the shot put and the discus. Henry Utecht won the high jump, the long jump and the triple jump and was key to the varsity boys victory. And our super sophomore, Alonso Gonzales won a thrilling 3200 in an all time personal record and placed third in the 1600. In the final event of the meet, our varsity boys 4×400 team raced to a huge season best with Eli Rodriguez’ anchor leg earning us the victory.
