Game Summary
When it rains it pours, as the adage goes, and following an 18-4 throttling at the hands of the visiting Hillsdale Knights on Friday afternoon, the Sequoia Cherokees find themselves smack in the middle of a monsoon. Hillsdale struck early with two runs in the top of the first, though Sequoia immediately got one back on an RBI double from SR LF Brandon Gee. Sequoia then loaded the bases but could not square the game, and Hillsdale immediately responded with two more runs in the top of the 2nd and three more in the third. Sequoia had opportunities, including loading the bases again with two outs in the 4th but SR 2B Kyle Pruhsmeier’s screaming line drive was snared by the Knights LF to snuff out the threat. Hillsdale then blew the game wide open with a 9-run 5th off of three Cherokee relievers and cruised from there. SR C Trevor Crowell was an offensive standout, going 3 X 4 with a BB, RBI and a run scored, and Pruhsmeier added 3 hits of his own to raise his team-leading average to .538. SO RF Nolan Doyle and FR 3B Ben Singler each got their first hits in their varsity debuts. SR LHP Jack Wangsness (1-3) was saddled with the loss for Sequoia who falls to (2-15) (1-5 PAL Bay)
