The Varsity Soccer team had its final game of the season against Carlmont at Sequoia. It was a beautiful evening to celebrate and recognize the 11 seniors who will be graduating this year.
The scoring started early for Sequoia going up 1-0 in the 20th SECOND of the game. Ricky Cam sent a long ball across the field to Danny Landa who took one touch on the ball and ripped a shot from 25 yards out to get the Cherokees rolling. Carlmont would respond soon after to put the game at a 1-1 tie going into halftime.
The second half began with great pressure and skill from the boys in purple. With high pressure from Felipe Aguayo, he caused an errant pass from a Carlmont defender and scored an own goal…take them any way you can!
The third and final goal would come from Senior, Jared Mejia. With Jacob Burrill running down the left side of the field, he slipped a pass right across the face of the goal to a trailing Mejia to score the final goal and win the game 3-1.
Sequoia ended the regular season with a record of 8 wins, 4 losses and 2 ties and a total of 26 points. The soccer team looks to continue the success as an automatic qualifier to CCS starting next week. More details are to come after the CCS meeting this Saturday afternoon.
